The connecting rod and crank pin measurements are in the mnual which is available free on the site under 750. You can measure the clearance with plastigauge, standard clearance is .0008-.0018 and max is .0032 so .051 is way out of spec.

If it is put on the rod side those downward forces won''t read. Just be careful to release the end cap by tapping on the bolt for the same reason.
